Cut PPF with your USCutter plotter

Titan series / MH series / SC2 series
USB, HP-GL

USCutter machines are the budget entry into pattern cutting. They are not a Summa, but a Titan will cut a clean full front kit if your blade and pressure are dialled in, and ULTRAFILMCUT supports them.

Read this first

Tracking is the weak point on entry level machines. Load the roll square, use both pinch rollers inside the grit, and do not attempt a two metre body panel in one pass without a tracking test first.

USCutter setup, step by step

  1. 01

    Load the roll square

Square the film to the grit rollers and run a metre of blank feed before cutting. Tracking errors compound over the length of a body panel.

  2. 02

    Connect over USB

Install the USCutter USB driver, then confirm the COM port in Device Manager.

  3. 03

    Select HP-GL output

In Plotter Setup pick your Titan or MH model so ULTRAFILMCUT sends HP-GL at the right width.

  4. 04

    Set a fresh blade

Entry level machines are far less forgiving of a dull blade. Change it more often than you would on a Graphtec.

  5. 05

    Test a long cut

Before a full hood, cut a long thin rectangle and measure both ends. If it drifts, reload the roll before you commit film.

Write your working blade, force and speed numbers on tape and stick it to the machine. Settings are not portable between plotter brands, and the numbers you trust today are the ones you will forget next month.

Test tracking on a long thin rectangle before committing to a full panel.

Cut the calibration square before every first job of the day and after any blade change. The film should part cleanly and the liner should show a light score without being cut through.

USCutter questions

For a starting shop, yes, with caveats. Keep panels shorter, change blades often, and check tracking before long cuts. It will not match a Summa on a full body kit.
